The meeting provided opportunity for dialogue between all religions, both in the U.S. and abroad and was a fitting opportunity for the U.S. to affirm its support for individual religious freedom, the equality of all people regardless of their religious faith and the other principles of religious freedom.
Give thanks also for President Bush's positive leadership of the Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy with leaders of the Group of 20 (G-20) nations in Washington, D.C. over the weekend. Pray also for wisdom as he lays plans for his administration including the selection of cabinet and cabinet level positions including Attorney General, Secretaries of Defense, State, Treasury and more as well as National Security Advisor and Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Pray for God’s perfect choice for each of these vital posts.
Pray for President Elect Obama and Mrs. Obama as they prepare their daughters Malia and Sasha for the move to the White House. Pray for wisdom as they seek the appropriate school, for grace during the adjustment and for new friendships for these girls who have lived in the same neighborhood in Chicago their whole lives.
Pray for Mrs. Marian Robinson, Michelle Obama’s mother, as she makes decisions with her daughter and son-in-law regarding her future accommodations. Mrs. Robinson has been a primary caregiver to Malia and Sasha Obama throughout the rigorous days of the campaign and will likely move into the White House with them. Pray for wisdom in this decision.
Give thanks once again for the faithful members of our military who have served our country with dedication and sacrifice, praying that each will continue to know God’s goodness and love in their lives in a great variety of ways. Pray for those who are wounded to find healing, whether emotional or physical. Pray for strength, protection and guidance as they do their jobs.
As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right. But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. —The Bible, I Samuel 12:23-24 (NIV)
But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. —The Bible, Matthew 5:44-45 (NIV)

President Elect Obama has spent the last week on a steep learning curve. He has begun the Presidential Daily Briefing, an overwhelming intelligence report on threats to our security at every level; he has met with President Bush in the Oval Office; he has designated a Chief of Staff and continues to seek the most gifted individuals to serve in his administration. We must pray diligently and intelligently for the new President, calling to God for guidance and wisdom for him and his advisors. Please join us in this essential initiative, 77 Days of Prayer for Our New President, that will strengthen our nation. Learn more HERE.

That from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion, that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation under God, and that government of the people by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth. —Abraham Lincoln in the Gettysburg Address, November 19, 1863

Americans expect their President to conduct the people's business. I will continue to uphold this solemn obligation for as long as this office remains in my trust. In the meantime, I join the American people in wishing President-Elect Obama every success. Laura and I wish the Obama family as much joy and happiness as our family has found in this wonderful house. —George W. Bush, November 8, 2008

In a recent interview President George Bush expressed the great sense of anticipation he feels as he prepares to return to his Crawford, TX ranch following the end of his term.

Pastor Explains His Support for Bush and Obama Alike Courtesy of Beliefnet.com
The Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell is pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church, the largest United Methodist congregation in the nation. Often described as a ‘spiritual advisor' to President George W. Bush, Caldwell introduced Bush at the 2000 Republican National Convention and delivered the benedictions at the 2001 and 2005 presidential inaugurations. He endorsed Senator Barack Obama for president in January. When you called President Bush to say you were endorsing Senator Barack Obama, how did he respond?
He had shared his thoughts with me about Senator Obama months before I called and told him I was going to endorse. And he says he likes him as a person. He told me that early on, before the Senator even announced he was running for president. He has a tremendous amount of respect for him. Read more.

Artist Wants Public Thinking About Prayer A young Kansas City artist has created a variety of works to push the issue of prayer into the public eye.
Dylan Mortimer’s creative works compel viewers to engage in dialogue about faith in our culture. Seeking to bring public conversation to what many consider the private matters of faith and prayer, Mortimer has created a series of installations.
Most recently, he has placed public prayer booths in New York City. Similar in appearance to public telephone booths but with a flip-down kneeler, Mortimer’s booth is used by some and chuckled at by others. Read more.

Our grandson Joseph is home now and working at a new job. He was wounded in Iraq by a roadside bomb, but God was watching over him and the three young men who were with him. We thank everyone who was praying for him, and hope you will continue to do so. Praying for our troops and supporting them. Roy and Betty
Larry has recently returned home from his second tour of duty. Currently he is dealing with flashbacks of his last tour and is in need of pray for that. Also, he is dealing with issues of his wife wanting a divorce will he was away, they are trying to work things out since his return and is in need of pray in that situation also.
Thank you for praying for Nathan and his wife, Ivy, as they have been adjusting to a new situation -- he in Iraq and she at home alone with their one year old special needs baby. They both have felt the prayers and strength from the Lord during this time of transition. We, Nathan's parents, received a surprise phone call from him last night. He is tired because they work long hours, and it is stressful trying to learn all that they need to know to take over the work from other units who have been working there all year. He is the leader of a platoon that will be working with the Iraqi MPs and helping the people with their living conditions. He has requested we pray that he will be a good leader and that his platoon will build good relationships with the people and be very productive. Again, thank you so much for your much needed prayers!
Jeff is now on the board to be promoted to Staff Sgt by next summer. Right now he is taking a class that is required for promotion to Gunnery Sgt. He is the only Sgt in the class...all the others are Staff Sgts. Please pray that he makes wise decisions concerning his future in the Corps. I believe God has big plans for him and Jeff needs clear direction. Many officers have encouraged that he go that route (to be an officer), so he would have to attend college & get a degree. He needs wisdom in that. He and Meg have a new daughter - Heidi. Thank you for your prayers.
Brian has arrived safely to his Forward Operating Base in Afghanistan. He has a great team and says that he is learning tons from them, especially his great NCO's. Please keep praying that God will surround Brian and his team with his angels and bring them all safely through their daily missions.
